小型賽車運動是車手速度之比試，但車手往往忽略了賽車的結構及維修等問題。單純依靠機械師為賽車跟進機械問題是不足夠的，車手應為自己的賽車進行安全檢定才進入賽道，並在練習時注意安全駕駛。 以下是一些出車前及練習時所須注意的安全守則重點，以供參考。 出車前必需檢查賽車上的縲絲是否已上緊，尤其是尾軸及車輪縲絲。 進入及離開賽道時必須減慢車速(約時速3公里)，並須舉起單手示意後來賽車。 切忌反方向進出賽道。 如賽車在駕駛途中發生故障，在未了解問題前，不要觸摸動力部份，如引擎、齒輪及制動碟等。 如賽車不小心失控，甚至反車，車手應留在座位內，雙手握緊方向盤，觀察沒有後來車輛，才可在安全情況下將賽車拉上草地，並等待工作人員協助。 如失控後打算繼續練習，必須注意有沒有後來賽車追上，以免發生不必要的碰撞。 車手視線應盡量望遠一點，留意前方有沒有停下來的賽車。 練習時應以訓練為原則，無謂的拼搏可免則免。
